Cardi has had quite a long history with Forever Friends but our volunteers have put a lot of work into her training and she has totally turned a corner – she is incredibly obedient and while she has proven she can get along with some dogs, she would need to be the only dog in the house. She also spent some time at our Sanctuary where she met all kinds of animals including chickens and horses and she did extremely well with them!
This very clever girl knows the following commands: sit, stay, lie down, shake, touch and spin. She enjoys learning and would love to continue being taught new tricks.
She walks fairly well on a lead and fantastically with a halti.
She’s crate trained, toilet trained, and won’t steal food off the counters even though she could reach if she wanted.
As she occasionally forgets her size she’d be best suited to a home without small children. After walks she gets super energetic and zooms around, so a yard with room to run would be great.
She does show signs of fear of other dogs, and has been known to bark at them to try to scare them off if they seem overly interested in her. On walks this is drastically improved by wearing a halti and avoiding walking too close to other dogs. Because of this she’d be best as the only dog in your life.
Cardi will gladly join you outside for walks and exercise and then happily nap on the couch all day while you work. Her favourite toys are squeaky-toys, followed by treat-filled kongs.
Her gorgeous white coat makes her more vulnerable to sunburn, so extra care should be taken to keep her safe from the sun.
